
One of the best ways to view the flora and fauna of Chitwan national park is by taking a safari ride on an elephant, as it enables you to penetrate deep into the jungle through tall grasslands. However, there are many other exciting ways to take on the adventure. At the foot of Himalaya, Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the 'Tarai' region, which formally extended over the foothills of Nepal & India. It has particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last population of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal tiger. It contains more than 500 one – horned rhinoceros, approximately 120 royal bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild bison, striped hyena, gangetic dolphin, an estimated 47 species of mammals, over 500 species of birds,150 species of butterflies, 47 species of reptiles, 126 species of fishes in the park. It is also the habitat of the aquatic life including marsh magars (crocodile).The world here is wild and enchanting, where even now you can feel the spirit of the time of great explorers. This is 932sq km. The Park also holds a peace as a world heritage site
